Diwan Al Adaam The organizing committee of the National Day celebrations launched the "Diwan Al Adaam" event on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Darb Al-Saie, where the National Day activities are held. The new event comes as part of the vision of the National Day, promoting loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in the Qatari national identity, which is embodied in the celebrations of the National Day of the state on December 18 of each year, in commemoration of the inauguration of the country's founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani, may his soul rest in peace, to rule the country. This event was introduced by the organizing committee of the National Day celebrations as part of the activities for the National Day of 2019. The event is held in partnership between the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Qatar Cultural and Heritage Events Center, and the Qatar Poetry Center "Diwan al-Arab". The event is targeting the traditianl poets (Nabatie), the classical poets and the free verse poetry within the State of Qatar to root for the essence of poetry, and in search of a new horizon for writing poetry in which freedom of poetic speech depicts human dignity and the right to express human feelings and his role in the rebirth of his homeland. The event is in the form of a poetic competition between the Nabatean or the local dialect poets of citizens and residents in Qatar. The competition extends over 4 stages, and will allow the poetry audience to interact with the poets and their poems directly through traditional media or through social media platforms.
